The title of my blog is The Shining Mystery, as I’m sure you can tell. I chose that title for a few reasons. I’ve always been interested, sometimes even obsessed, with how and why things worked the way they did and how the dots were connected, which is a major theme in most mysteries. I love mysteries, like Sherlock Holmes, because he can always find the truth, even when given the smallest, seemingly most insignificant, details. This curiosity is the main reason behind my sad devotion to the TV show CSI. I love watching the characters take the evidence in a crime, string it together into a coherent theory, and find the culprit.
I chose to put The Shining in the title because it is one of my favorite books. There is a mystery aspect that I enjoy, as I mentioned before. I also like the horror aspects about it. I enjoy that feeling of being in suspense, and shock and fright when something unexpected happens. What I like the most is the supernatural part of the book, the fact that reality and sanity seem to slip away the longer the family stays in the hotel is fascinating. What I find the most interesting is how the characters react in the stressful situations that they are put in.
So, that is why I chose the title.
